Asian Tech Press (SEP 13) -- According to sources, Singaporean e-commerce giant Shopee will launch a short video app in the Southeast Asian market to directly compete with ByteDance's TikTok. The project has a high priority and budget, and its new team includes several former international members of ByteDance.
Under Sea Ltd, Shopee is one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the world. Headquartered in Singapore, Shopee had expanded its reach to SEA, LATAM, and Taiwan. It has been reported that Shopee is officially entering the European market by launching in Poland this fall.
Sea Ltd is a leading Internet company in Southeast Asia, with core businesses including its gaming business Garena, e-commerce business Shopee and e-payment business AirPay.
