Asia Tech Wire (July 12) -- TikTok is trying to launch a local life business outside of China, with its first stop being Southeast Asia, according to Chinese media outlet 36Kr.

The agency said that TikTok has now opened this business in Indonesia and Thailand.

Among them, the TikTok local life business in Indonesia is still in the internal testing stage, and only some users can browse the relevant group-buying packages in the information flow, mainly catering merchants.

In addition, some Thai accounts are calling for merchants to join TTLS, or TikTok Local Services, in short videos, calling it "a brand new opportunity for merchants".

TikTok's recruitment website also has dozens of job postings related to its local life business, with jobs in Singapore, Jakarta, and Bangkok, including positions in eco-governance, strategic analysis, and product manager.
