Asia Tech Wire (Aug 12) -- Smartphone shipments in Southeast Asia achieved a 14% year-on-year growth to 23.9 million units in the second quarter of 2024, according to new data from Canalys.
In the region, South Korea's Samsung saw a slight increase during the quarter after suffering seven consecutive year-over-year declines, shipping 4.4 million units, with an 18% market share.
Chinese brand OPPO (excluding OnePlus) regained second place in the market, shipping 4.2 million units for a 17% market share.
Xiaomi came in third, its push into entry-level products closing the gap with its Chinese counterpart, with shipments of 4 million units and a 17% market share.
