S. Korea's Q2 chip manufacturing equipment outlays $6.62 billion

Asian Tech Press (SEP 08) -- Researchers previously estimated that the sales of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix memory chips would reach 26 trillion won ( approximately US$23 billion ) in Q2 2021, up 16.7% sequentially.

According to the latest reports, while revenues have increased significantly, both companies are also increasing investment in chip manufacturing facilities. Driven by these two major manufacturers, South Korea's investment in chip manufacturing equipment in the second quarter of this year has increased by nearly 50% year-on-year.

From the data provided by SEMI, South Korea's investment in chip manufacturing equipment in Q2 2021 has reached $6.62 billion, up 48% year-on-year.

Despite the significant year-on-year growth, investment in the second quarter decreased by $690 million compared to Q1's $7.31 billion, a 9.4% decline compared to the previous quarter.
