Asia Tech Wire (Oct 14) -- Meta Platforms CTO Andrew Bosworth recently confirmed in an interview previous news about the company canceling a high-end headset for a 2027 release and working on another ultra-lightweight headset.
The Information reported in August that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Bosworth had canceled the high-end headset codenamed La Jolla, which was originally planned for a 2027 launch, most likely the Quest Pro 2.
Later that month The Information also reported that at the same meeting where that decision was made, they approved an ultralight headset, also planned for 2027, that would have featured a wired computing module.
And in a recent interview with The Verge, Bosworth confirmed that both of those reports were true.
Bosworth cited the tepid response to the first-generation Quest Pro as the reason for canceling La Jolla.
