Asia Tech Wire (Sep 20) -- A Huawei executive said the hot sales of its newly launched tri-fold phone far exceeded expectations.

The Huawei Mate XT quickly sold out of all models after it went on sale in China at 10:08 a.m. Friday at prices ranging from 19,999 yuan to 23,999 yuan.

Currently, Huawei Vmall, JD.com, Tmall and other online platforms in China show that the tri-fold phone is "temporarily out of stock".

Richard Yu, chairman of Consumer Business Group (BG) at Huawei, appeared at the flagship store on Nanjing East Road in Shanghai on Friday morning to attend the delivery ceremony for the first batch of Huawei Mate XT phones.

Yu said at the delivery ceremony that Huawei's tri-fold phone is selling far beyond expectations, and his team is working overtime to expand production capacity.
