Asia Tech Wire (July 17) -- GAC Aion, the electric vehicle unit of Chinese state-owned automaker GAC Group, announced on Wednesday the inauguration of its smart factory in Thailand.
On the same day, GAC Aion's second-generation Aion V electric compact SUV rolled off the production line at the plant.
The first phase of the Thailand plant has an annual capacity of 50,000 units, where GAC Aion will gradually expand to 100,000 units per year.
GAC Aion hopes to realize the co-production of the second-generation Aion V, Aion Y Plus, Hyper HT, and other electric models at this plant.
