GAC Aion signs strategic cooperation agreement with self-driving firm Momenta

Asia Tech Wire (Oct 16) -- Chinese automaker GAC Group's electric vehicle unit Aion, commonly known as GAC Aion, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with autonomous driving company Momenta on Tuesday.

Zhongmin Xi, deputy general manager of GAC Aion, and Xudong Cao, CEO of Momenta, attended the signing ceremony.

The two companies will work to promote the development and mass production of higher-level intelligent driving solutions.

Xi said, "The cooperation with Momenta will accelerate the mass production and popularization of technologies such as intelligent driving and urban NDA (Navigated Driving Assist), and help the automotive industry upgrade intelligently."

In late September, Momenta unveiled its first mass-produced smart driving model at an event, which can support accurately predicting the intentions of vehicles or pedestrians in a variety of complex road environments, automatically adjusting the speed of an vehicle, changing lanes flexibly, and avoiding obstacles with ease.
