Asia Tech Wire (May 24) -- Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. (GAC Group)'s electric vehicle brand Aion officially entered the Nepalese market on Thursday.
Aion's business entity, GAC Aion, held the launch of the Aion brand and showroom opening in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, with AION Y being the first model to hit the market.
In addition to the AION Y, a compact electric crossover SUV, GAC Aion plans to launch a number of new models in Nepal this year.
Earlier this week Aion landed in Malaysia and Tajikistan, where GAC Aion delivered its first 1,000 new energy vehicles, setting a record for a single new energy vehicle import into Tajikistan.
According to GAC Aion's vision, the electric car brand will focus on Southeast Asia and expand to the global market in the future.
In the next 1-2 years, GAC Aion will set up seven global production and sales bases in Central Asia, West Asia, America, Africa and Europe to expand its international strategic map.
Among them, the electric car maker's factories in Thailand and Indonesia are under construction and are due to go into production within the year.
