Asian Tech Press (Nov 03) -- Robert Bosch GmbH, commonly known as Bosch announced on its official website that it plans to invest more than 400 million euros in Germany's Dresden, Reutlingen and Malaysia's Penang next year to expand its chip production capacity and support its customers. Most of the investment money will be used for the new plant in Dresden, where capacity will be expanded at a faster pace next year.

Of the remaining planned investment, about 50 million euros will be spent on a wafer fab in Reutlingen near Stuttgart, and 150 million euros are planned to be invested in 2021-2023 to expand the cleanroom area. In Penang, Malaysia, Bosch will invest in a test center scheduled to be operational in 2023.

Volkmar Denner, chairman of the Bosch management board, said that demand for chips is still growing at a very fast pace and that, in light of current developments, the company is systematically expanding the production of their semiconductor products in order to be able to provide its customers with the best possible support.
