Asian Tech Press (Nov 24) -- Apple has temporarily halted product sales in Turkey as the country's currency devalues at an accelerated rate.
Currently, Apple's official online store is still operating in Turkey, but it is currently impossible to add any devices to the shopping cart or purchase them due to currency fluctuations.
The Turkish lira, which is currently equivalent to roughly US$0.078, has lost nearly 40 percent of its value this year and 20 percent in the last week alone. In the past year, the lira has fallen 45 percent against the dollar.
There is no word yet on when Apple will resume sales in Turkey. Still, the slide is likely to continue with inflation nearing 20 percent and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan refusing to raise interest rates.
