U.S. airlines adopt AI technology to optimize operations

Asia Tech Wire (Sep 3) -- U.S. airports may see record passenger traffic during this year's Labor Day holiday, authorities predict.

In order to cope with the strong demand for air travel, a number of U.S. airlines are now adopting AI technology to optimize the operation of various aspects, including ground control, route design, customer service and so on.

Flight delays have always been a major pain point in the customer experience, and United Airlines said that passengers' negative emotions are usually alleviated when they understand the cause of a delay.

That's why customer service departments at United Airlines have begun using generative AI to write detailed descriptions of the reasons for delays.

United Airlines has used this AI tool on more than 6,000 flights since March, and surveys have shown a 4% increase in customer satisfaction.
