TSMC to raise foundry prices for driver circuits, exacerbating chip shortage
Mar.30,2021

Recently, TSMC reportedly will increase OEM quotes for the driver circuit from April. As a result, panel manufacturers and terminal manufacturers will be subject to greater pressure.

According to Isaiah Research, a Taipei-based boutique research firm, pointed out that as of March, manufacturers have increased foundry prices for driver circuits by 5-10%.

For example, global famous foundries have increased their foundry prices, including Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation (VIS), United Microelectronics Co (UMC) and Powerchip,

Especially, the supply of TDDI chips has exceeded demand, and the price has increased by 15%-20% in the fourth quarter of last year. It's expected that TDDI chips will continue to increase prices in the second quarter and the third quarter.
