According to Reuters, Toshiro Muto, chief of the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee, said at a press conference on Tuesday that the Tokyo Olympics could not rule out the possibility of last-minute cancellation due to the epidemic.
Muto said that since the number of cases of Covid-19 is increasing, it poses a growing challenge for organizers. He will closely monitor the number of infections and discuss with organizers as necessary.
"We have agreed to reconvene the five-party talks depending on the situation of the epidemic. At this point, the number of cases may increase or decrease, so we will consider what we should do when different situations arise", Muto said.
