Tesla Model Y sales in China began to outpace Model 3 sales in May this year.

On January 1, 2021, Tesla China announced that the domestic Model Y officially went on sale, and this car started to be delivered in China on January 18, 2021. Although the car has only been available in China for a few months, that hasn't stopped it from becoming one of the most popular electric cars on the market.

The Confederation of Passenger Associations (CPCA) data shows that Tesla sold 21,936 vehicles in China in May this year. Among them, 12,728 Model Y units were sold, and 9,208 Model 3 units were sold. This means that the Model Y outsold the Model 3 in China.
