On March 20, Ling Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, hosted a symposium with Swedish and Norwegian companies. Swedish Ambassador to China Osborn, Norwegian Ambassador to China David Dewey, and representatives of more than ten Swedish and Norwegian companies including the China Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Ericsson, Scania, and Yara International attended the meeting. Ling Ji said that unilateralism and protectionism represented by tariff barriers are constantly disrupting the security and stability of the global supply chain and undermining the foundation of the multilateral trading system. China and European countries should strengthen trade and investment cooperation, safeguard WTO rules, and respond to external challenges. China's economy is improving in the long run, its super-large-scale market is full of vitality, its new quality productivity is booming, and its high-level opening-up is being steadily promoted, providing investors from all countries with stable and good expectations. Swedish and Norwegian companies have comparative advantages in green and low-carbon, intelligent manufacturing, information technology, shipping and maritime, and investing in China is a mutually beneficial and win-win choice. The Ministry of Commerce is willing to conduct regular communication and exchanges with foreign-funded enterprises and try its best to promote the resolution of the reasonable demands and concerns of enterprises. The delegates at the meeting all expressed their firm support for multilateralism and free trade, fully affirmed China's stable economic development, complete and efficient supply chain system, and vibrant innovation ecosystem, and said they would further increase investment and R&D input in China. Walking with China means walking with the future.
