Asian Tech Press (Nov 11) -- Japanese entertainment and electronics giant Sony Group Corporation has lowered its production forecast for its PlayStation 5 console by 1 million units for the current fiscal year due to parts and logistics constraints, according to Bloomberg.

Sony previously aimed to produce more than 16 million PS5 units in the current fiscal year (to the end of March next year) to meet current sales targets and get a head start on the following year's production. Sony has now lowered its production target to about 15 million units, making it more difficult for the PS5 to achieve its goal of selling 14.8 million units, people familiar with the matter said.

In October, Sony said sales of the PS5 console were expected to reach 14.8 million units this fiscal year, a target that already takes parts supply shortages into account.
