Sony expected to capture nearly 40% of global camera image sensor market revenue in 2022

Asian Tech Press (Feb 24) -- Japanese electronics company Sony Group Corp. is expected to account for nearly 40% of the global camera image sensor (CIS) market revenue in 2022.

Benefiting from the growing demand for smartphones and in-vehicle electronics, global CIS market revenue is expected to increase by 7% to $21.9 billion in 2022, according to a report recently released by market research company Counterpoint.

Specifically for manufacturers, Sony is expected to grow only 3% in CIS market revenue in 2022, but it still have a 39.1% share, far ahead of other makers.

Samsung is in second place with a 24.9% share, and third is China-based OmniVision Technologies Inc., with a 12.9% share.

These three major manufacturers accounted for 77% of the global CIS market revenue, leaving little room for other vendors.
