It was previously rumored that South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix had 240,000 defective DRAM wafers, which caused the company to suffer a loss of 2 trillion won.
In response, SK Hynix responded that some of its DRAM wafers were defective but that the defect was within the scope of regular inspection for quality issues. The company is currently in talks with a handful of customers affected by this issue to resolve it. While it is too early to estimate potential losses, the company does not believe the damage will be that severe.
