Asian Tech Press (Nov 18) -- According to a recent report, AMD could be the first company to use Samsung Foundry's cutting-edge 3nm process technology.
According to WccFTech, industry sources think that TSMC's close ties with Cupertino-based Apple has influenced AMD's decision to use Samsung for its 3nm orders. Qualcomm is also rumored to be interested in Samsung's 3nm process nodes, so the business would not be the only chipmaker eyeing the South Korean Foundry.
Reportedly, the primary reason for both big chipmakers' actions is their discontent with TSMC's relationship with Apple. Regardless of the rumors, TSMC plans to start producing chips using its 3nm process technology in the first half of 2022.
