Asian Tech Press (Dec 21) -- Samsung has completed its $220 million R&D center in Vietnam.
In March 2020, Samsung began construction of a new research and development center in Hanoi, Vietnam, at an estimated cost of $220 million.
The R&D center is now complete, and Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong is visiting Vietnam this week to celebrate the achievement, arriving in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi on Thursday, according to The Korea Herald.
The report said that Samsung's new R&D center in Hanoi will occupy 11,603 square meters, and will be Samsung's largest R&D center in Southeast Asia.
Samsung will conduct research and development of smartphones, tablets, hardware and software at the R&D center, which will also house up to 3,000 employees.
Samsung currently has 17 R&D centers worldwide, including ones in Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and the United States.
