Asian Tech Press (OCT 22) -- According to media reports, Nissan Motor will cut its scheduled global production for October and November by 30 percent due to global chip shortages.
Nissan has told suppliers that it will produce 263,000 vehicles in October and 320,000 vehicles in November, both of which are 30 percent lower than previously expected.
Nissan is not the only Japanese car company affected by chip shortages, as those affected also include Honda and Toyota.
Honda Motor revealed that it expects to cut production at each of its three Japanese auto assembly plants by 10 percent in early November. Following global production cuts in September and October, Toyota announced this month that it will cut global production by 15 percent in November because of a slowdown in production at its component plants in Malaysia and Vietnam.
