Asia Tech Wire (Oct 15) -- French President Emmanuel Macron said at the Paris Motor Show that France is boosting the electric car sector to promote its re-industrialization.
The week-long 90th Paris Motor Show opened on Monday. At this year's show, global automakers are competing to launch new electric cars with lower prices and more advanced technologies.
Chinese automakers such as Hongqi, Dongfeng, GAC Group, BYD, Leapmotor and Xpeng are exhibiting at the show, with new electric cars occupying most of the booths, reflecting the determination of Chinese companies to actively explore the European market.
Alfa Romeo, Renault, Citroen, Audi, Leapmotor and several other auto companies and brands plan to debut their models globally at this year's show.
French President Macron, attending the Paris Motor Show on Monday afternoon, said that France must continue to reindustrialize, continue to innovate and create more jobs.
He stressed that France is promoting the development of the electric vehicle sector to boost the country's re-industrialization.
This year's Paris Motor Show featured a series of iconic cars as a way of presenting the development and technological progress of the automotive industry in France and around the world over more than a century.
More than 40 automobile brands from around the world are participating in this year's show, and the indoor and outdoor exhibition halls are larger than those of the previous edition.
