Asian Tech Press -- Japan will reportedly check the mobile devices of returning Olympians out of security concerns over the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games app.

The Japan Sports Agency said Tuesday that experts will inspect the mobile devices of returning members of the country's Beijing Winter Olympics delegation who have installed the app, Kyodo News reported.

There have been reports that the MY2022 app, which is officially released by the Beijing Organising Committee and required to be used by all participants, has security flaws.

A spokesperson for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics said a month ago that user privacy is protected on its Olympics app, and the MY2022 app is required for COVID-19 prevention and control, not mandatory to be installed on private cell phones.

The MY2022 app is a multi-functional mobile application that provides a variety of information services for people registered for the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, according to an official presentation.
