Asia Tech Wire (Nov 6) -- U.S. semiconductor equipment maker Applied Materials is weeding out Chinese parts from its supply chain, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The report says Applied Materials has formally notified its suppliers to find alternatives to parts sourced from China or risk losing their supplier status.
In response, Applied Materials told Chinese media outlet Jiemian that "Applied Materials manages its global supply chain and identifies alternative sources to maximize the availability of quality components that our customers rely on."
In addition to Applied Materials, the Wall Street Journal report said Lam Research has delivered a similar message to its suppliers.
