Asian Tech Press -- InterDigital Inc (IDCC: NASDAQ GS), a U.S. mobile and video technology R&D company, said on Tuesday that it has reached a settlement with Xiaomi Corp (1810: Hong Kong), and the two companies have signed a "multi-year, worldwide, non-exclusive" patent licensing agreement.
"The license covers Xiaomi's cellular-enabled mobile devices under InterDigital's standard-essential patents (SEPs) related to cellular wireless (including 3G, 4G and 5G), WiFi and HEVC video technologies," GlobeNewswire wrote in a report.
As a part of the agreement, InterDigital and Xiaomi have agreed to dismiss all pending patent litigation and other proceedings between the two companies.
Xiaomi reportedly filed a lawsuit against InterDigital in June 2020 in the Wuhan Intermediate People's Court fo China, seeking a court ruling on the FRAND royalty rates and licensing terms on InterDigital's relevant 3G and 4G SEPs.
In July of the same year, InterDigital sued Xiaomi and some of its subsidiaries for patent infringement and sought injunctive relief in the Delhi High Court in India.
