Asian Tech Press (Mar. 8) -- Chip maker Intel Corp. currently has no competitors in China yet, a senior executive of the company said.

Ms. Rui Wang, senior vice president and chairman of Intel China, said in an interview on Friday that Intel currently has no local competitors in China, and its overall strength still ranks top in the industry.

Wang said that from a single area, such as graphics cards and CPU chips, Intel does temporarily lag behind some companies, such as the process process left behind TSMC, but she believed that with so many years of Intel's experience, the company has full assurance of catching up.

Asked whether the development of local companies in China has posed a substantial threat to Intel, Wang said, not yet, but she believed that China will appear solidly designed companies, and greatly hoped that local companies in China have such competitiveness.

"I think in the next three to five years, we should be able to see the momentum of local Chinese companies (to pose a competitive threat to us)," Wang added.
