Asia Tech Wire (June 17) -- Shipments in China's wearable device market amounted to 33.67 million units in the first quarter of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 36.2%, according to a newly released report by IDC.

The report points out that along with the growth in sales, the market shipment pace has accelerated significantly.

Among them, the smartwatch market shipped 9.1 million units in the first quarter of 2024, an increase of 54.1% year-on-year. And adult smartwatch shipments amounted to 5.05 million units, up 62.8% year-on-year.

The smart ring market shipped 3.7 million units in the first quarter of 2024, an increase of 29.6% year-on-year, as new product iterations from leading manufacturers drove significant shipment growth.

And the earwear market shipped 20.75 million units in the first quarter of 2024, up 30.6% year-on-year. Among them, 17.04 million shipments were for true wireless headphones, up 37.2% year-on-year.
