Asian Tech Press (SEP 07) -- Leading market analyst firm Canalys released a report on the global wearable devices market in Q2 2021, which showed that the global wearable band devices market grew by 5.6% year-on-year in Q2 2021, with shipments reaching 40.9 million.
It is reported that of the 40.9 million smart wearable devices, 15.5 million wearable bands, and 25.4 million smartwatches were shipped.
Xiaomi overtook Apple to become the largest wearable band vendor with 8 million units shipped, accounting for 19.6 percent of the market share in the second quarter.
Apple shipped 7.9 million units of wearable bands, accounting for 19.3% of the Q2 market share. Furthermore, Huawei shipped 3.7 million units, accounting for 9.2% of the Q2 market share.
Canalys stated that Xiaomi's success was driven by the launch of its Mi Smart Band 6, the product generated extremely high sales for Xiaomi.
As for smartwatches, Apple led with a 31.1% market share in Q2 2021 with 7.9 million units shipped. Huawei was second with 2.3 million units and a 9.0 percent market share.
