Asia Tech Wire (Sep 9) -- Huawei's HarmonyOS operating system continued its strong growth in the first quarter of 2024, successfully breaking through 4% of the global market share, according to new statistics released by Counterpoint.

In the Chinese market, thanks to the popularity of Huawei's flagship products, HarmonyOS overtook Apple's iOS for the first time and became the second largest operating system in the market.

Meanwhile, HarmonyOS has also achieved a significant increase in 5G penetration, jumping from 9% in the first quarter of 2023 to 50%.

Counterpoint's report said that as Huawei continues to deepen its supply chain localization, HarmonyOS has even broader market prospects in the future.
