Asian Tech Press (Nov 21) -- Chinese display maker BOE Technology Group Co Ltd. on Monday denied market rumors that Samsung Electronics kicked it out of its supply chain.

The company said recent rumors about BOE's cooperation issues with Samsung were reports taken out of context by South Korean media based on inaccurate information.

BOE told Chinese media outlet The Paper that its supply with global brand partners is still on track as currently planned.

Earlier, BusinessKorea reported that the cooperation between Samsung Electronics and BOE seems to have come to an end, and Samsung Electronics has removed BOE from its supply chain.

BOE was Samsung's liquid crystal display (LCD) supplier, and had supplied 10% of TV panels to Samsung in the first quarter of 2023.

"BOE always adheres to long-termism and is committed to building a sustainable industrial ecosystem based on a healthy competitive relationship," the display maker said.

It continued, "Rumors stop with the wise, and in the future, BOE will continue to work hand in hand with domestic and foreign brand customers to continuously deepen cooperation and bring higher quality products and services to consumers."

With Samsung Electronics' strategic exit from the LCD display panel industry, it has been sourcing LCD panels mainly from mainland China.

According to market researcher Omdia, Chinese factories supplied Samsung with 52% of its LCD panels for TVs in 2022, and that percentage is likely to rise to 60% this year.

BOE is China's leader in manufacturing OLED displays, and has been actively expanding in the smartphone market in recent years, competing fiercely with Samsung Electronics in the OLED display market worldwide.
