Asian Tech Press (OCT 19) -- Apple has released its third generation of AirPods wireless headphones (AirPods 3). According to Apple's official information, the new version of AirPods no longer supports older phones such as iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 5s.
In addition, the new AirPods drop support for the iPad mini 2 and iPad mini 3, as well as the sixth-generation iPod touch. Apple explained that some features require iOS 13, but none of the aforementioned devices are supported.
The new AirPods adopt the design features of the existing AirPods Pro in a semi-in-ear solution, but without active noise cancellation. In addition, it supports spatial audio capabilities, has a longer battery life (one hour of use after five minutes of fast charging), supports IPX4 sweat and water resistance, and is priced at $179.
The AirPods 3 comes standard with a wireless charging case that is compatible with Apple's MagSafe ecosystem.
The new AirPods are available for pre-order now and will go on sale on October 26.
