Last week, the Microsoft team in the United States announced the creation of the first topological quantum bit processor "Majorana 1" and a work roadmap, saying that this may be a major breakthrough in the field of quantum computing. However, according to the latest report from Australia's "Dialogue" magazine, some experts pointed out that this peer-reviewed paper only shows part of the content, and there are still many obstacles to overcome in the specific roadmap. Steven Simon of Oxford University pointed out that related articles with similar research methods were withdrawn in 2021. Jonathan Oppenheim of University College London believes that the Microsoft team has not yet proved that it has a real topological quantum bit. Therefore, the scientific community is closely watching Microsoft's technological progress and its performance comparison with other quantum computing platforms.
