WeChat just released version 8.0 on it's 10th launch anniversary.

At present, WeChat 8.0 version is only available for iOS users, and it is not a full push but a batch push, in other words, the users who can experience it are actually not many.

New functions and features include:

• Updated splash animation
• Animated emoji
• Updated Status functions
• Visual display when listening to songs
• Floating window
• New Drop-down homepage

Tho there are no major updates to messaging related function , the animated emoji / emotions is an eye catcher.

And as how WeChat's updates always go, new features certainly will not be released in one version. Developers will probably roll out new features in two or three years as the 7.0 version.

In any case, the arrival of WeChat 8.0 is considered to open a new era for WeChat.
