Asian Tech Press (Feb 18) -- Tencent's flagship product WeChat is trialling the "1065" work schedule for employees amid criticism of "996".

The Chinese gaming and social media company's WeChat business group is testing the "1065" work schedule, which means working working from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for five days a week.

The person familiar with the matter said that the work schedual began to be implemented after the Spring Festival holiday.

The source also revealed that his department actually used to be the same work schedual, and did not require mandatory overtime.

However, the source stressed, "This time it is mandatory to get off work, so it is more lenient than before."
