Aug.1,2024

Asia Tech Wire (Aug 1) -- Chinese electric car maker BYD announced late Wednesday that it has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with U.S. ride-hailing giant Uber.

Under the agreement, the two companies plan to introduce 100,000 new BYD electric vehicles in key markets around the world to further expand the lineup of EVs on the Uber platform and jointly promote the popularization of EVs.

The partnership will start in Europe and Latin America and gradually expand to markets such as the Middle East, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

In order to encourage more drivers to choose electric vehicles, the two companies also plan to offer charging discounts, vehicle maintenance or insurance discounts to car owners in the future, as well as financing and leasing programs tailored to each market.

In addition, the two companies will work together to develop future BYD autonomous-capable cars and deploy them on the Uber platform.
