Asia Tech Wire (Sep 19) -- Chinese electric car maker BYD disclosed in a recent conference call that its sales in overseas markets grew 125% in the first eight months of 2024.
In early July, BYD held a ceremony in Rayong, Thailand, to mark the completion of its Thailand plant and the roll-out of its 8 millionth new-energy vehicle.
BYD said the company has now realized its strategic layout on six continents.
The company introduced that in the commercial vehicle business, its pure electric buses and cabs have spread their footprints across six continents, more than 70 countries and regions, and more than 400 cities around the world.
In May 2021 BYD officially announced its plan for passenger cars to go overseas, taking Norway as the first pilot market to develop overseas passenger car business.
As of August 2024, BYD's sales in overseas markets this year have exceeded 263,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 125%.
