Asian Tech Press (Nov 14) -- The U.S. electric vehicle market is on track to reach 1 million annual sales of pure electric passenger vehicles for the first time in 2023.
From January through September of this year, automakers sold 1 million electric vehicles in the U.S., including plug-in hybrid models.
And in the first 10 months of the year, sales of pure electric vehicles have reached about 963,000 units, a figure that is slightly less than the total sales of all types of electric vehicles in 2022.
Taking into account average monthly pure EV sales so far in 2023, U.S. pure EV sales will reach 1 million units by November.
U.S. electric vehicle registrations in the first three quarters of the year rose 61% year-over-year to 852,904 units, Automotive News noted in a report.
"If the pace continues through the end of the year, 2023 will be the first time EVs break the 1 million mark in a calendar year," Automotive News added.
