Asia Tech Wire (Oct 22) -- TSMC's 2nm plant has been ordered to shut down after a worker died in a suspected electrocution, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily News.

The report said that TSMC's 2-nanometer chip plant in Hsinchu recently suffered a workplace safety accident, in which a worker was killed in a suspected electrocution during construction.

The Hsinchu Science Park Bureau said Tuesday that the accident occurred on Oct. 18 and that it had ordered the plant to stop work.

The Taiwanese regulator also asked TSMC to stop work in the indoor power distribution operation area and propose an improvement plan.

It said that when TSMC puts forward an improvement plan, it will conduct inspections one by one in accordance with the plan, and will agree to resume work only after completing the reinspection.
