According to reports, Apple’s main chip supplier TSMC is expected to start risk production of 3nm chips in the second half of this year. By then, TSMC will be able to produce 30,000 chips with more advanced technology.
It’s reported that with Apple’s promising orders, TSMC plans to increase the monthly capacity of the 3nm chips to 55,000 in mid-2022, and further expand to 105,000 in 2023.
Compared with 5nm chips, 3nm ones have improved power consumption and performance by 30% and 15%, respectively.
