Asian Tech Press (Oct 22) -- Taiwanese foundry giant TSMC denied on Friday the rumors of delayed construction of its Arizona 5nm fab, saying that work on the Arizona plant is proceeding as planned.

Previously, media reported that although TSMC's Arizona plant has hundreds of billions of New Taiwan dollars of funding in placee, the cost of building the plant has increased significantly due to its U.S. rival Intel's high price for labor. And as a result, the construction of the Arizona plant would be delayed by about 2 months than expected.

TSMC denied the rumors and said that its Arizona plant is expected to move into machines in the second half of 2022 and the first-phase plant will start production with 5nm process in the first quarter of 2024 with a monthly capacity of 20,000 wafers.
