Asian Tech Press (Mar. 15) -- Taiwan-based personal computer maker ASUSTek Computer Inc announced a halt to shipments to Russia, in response to Ukraine Vice PM's call for sanctions against the country.

Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine's vice prime minister and minister of digital transformation, named ASUS in a tweet last Thursday with an open letter to ASUS chairman Jonney Shih calling on the company to pull out of Russia.

ASUS responded in a tweet on Wednesday that the company "has created an effective standstill of shipments to the Russian market."

The computer maker also said, "ASUS is deeply concerned about the growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine," and it would donate NT$30 million ($1.05 million) to the Disaster Relief Foundation "to contribute to relief efforts."
