Agency: Chinese TV brands will surpass South Korea in shipments for the first time in 2024, catching up with Samsung and surpassing LG Electronics in the high-end market

According to data released by market research firm CounterPoint Research on February 27, the global TV market brand shipments in 2024 will be 230 million units, a year-on-year increase of 2%. Looking at the fourth quarter alone, global shipments were 61 million units. From the perspective of manufacturer performance, Samsung Electronics ranked first with a 16% share, followed by Chinese TV brands TCL and Hisense, with shares of 14% and 12% respectively. LG Electronics ranked fourth with 10%. Samsung Electronics' shipment share in the high-end market in the fourth quarter was 29%, a year-on-year decrease of 12 percentage points. LG Electronics fell from 26% to 19%. On the contrary, TCL increased from 12% to 20%, surpassing LG Electronics and ranking second. Hisense also increased from 10% to 16%, closely following. On the other hand, China's TV shipments exceeded South Korea for the first time in 2024. According to data from market research firm Omdia, the combined shipment share of China's three major TV brands, TCL, Hisense and Xiaomi, reached 31.3%, exceeding the 28.4% of Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics.

Agency: Hisense, TCL, and Xiaomi TV combined shipments surpass Samsung and LG for the first time

Data released by market research firm Omdia shows that by 2024, the combined shipments of Chinese TV brands Hisense, TCL, and Xiaomi will account for 31.3% of the global market, surpassing Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics' 28.4% for the first time. In terms of sales, although Samsung Electronics has ranked first in the global TV market for 19 consecutive years and LG Electronics has ranked first in the global OLED TV market for 12 consecutive years, the gap in China is narrowing.

AI chip startup Tenstorrent receives $700 million investment, Bezos joins

According to the Securities Times, AI chip startup Tenstorrent received $700 million in investment, with a valuation of $2.6 billion, aiming to challenge Nvidia's leadership in the AI chip market. The company plans to develop affordable GPU alternatives, using open source technology and common components to avoid high-cost components to improve cost efficiency. Tenstorrent is led by "Silicon Valley chip legend" Jim Keller, who has held important positions in companies such as Apple, Tesla and AMD, and is committed to developing AI chips that break Nvidia's monopoly.
