According to media reports, Japanese automaker Suzuki plans to enter the electric car market by 2025. India will be the first country where Suzuki sells its electric cars.

Suzuki plans to launch an all-electric compact car, which will cost about 1.5 million yen (about $13,626) after government subsidies. The electric vehicle will be launched first in India and then in other markets, including Suzuki's domestic markets of Japan and Europe.

It is reported that Japanese automakers, including Suzuki, Toyota, Subaru, and Nissan, have been affected by the automotive chip shortage.

As a result of the global chip shortage, Suzuki had closed its three factories located on the central Pacific coast of Honshu Island for up to nine days in June.
