Asia Tech Wire (June 19) -- South Korean battery maker SK On will supply electric car batteries to Hyundai Motor from its U.S. plant, according to Sedaily.

Its report said that SK On will supply EV batteries to the South Korean automaker from its second battery plant in the U.S. state of Georgia, as soon as the end of the third quarter of this year.

The plant, which has been supplying batteries for Ford Motor's F-150 Lightning all-electric truck, is currently revamping some of its production lines with the aim of producing batteries for Hyundai Motor.

SK Innovation, which runs SK On, decided in 2018 to invest in its first battery plant in Georgia with an annual capacity of 9.8GWh.

In 2022, SK Innovation invested $940 million to begin construction of its second battery plant in Georgia with an annual capacity of 11.7GWh.
