Asia Tech Wire (July 30) -- SK hynix on Tuesday announced the launch of the industry's best-performing GDDR7, a next-generation graphics memory product.

The South Korean chipmaker said mass production of the product will begin in the third quarter of this year.

SK hynix said GDDR7 achieves an operating speed of 32Gbps, an improvement of more than 60% over its predecessor.

Offering faster speeds, GDDR7 improves power efficiency by more than 50% compared to its predecessor.

SK hynix said that in order to address the heat issue caused by the ultra-fast processing of data, the company adopted a new packaging technology during this product development.
