Samsung swifts two LCD production lines to OLED

Asian Tech Press (Nov 30) -- According to media reports, Samsung Display, which will exit the LCD panel market next year, has multiple production lines shifted to OLED panels. Only one LCD panel production line is still in operation.

The L7-1 LCD production line of Samsung Display was discontinued in 2016, shifted to a 6th generation OLED production line and renamed A4-1 production line. L7-2 was discontinued in the first quarter of this year and is also shifting to a 6th generation OLED production line, renaming the A4E production line.

The L8-1 production line has also been discontinued in the first quarter of this year. Samsung is looking for buyers for the idle equipment of the production line. There have been media reports that several manufacturers are interested in buying, Indian manufacturers are more willing to buy.

Located in Asan, South Korea's L8-2 production line is Samsung Display's ongoing LCD panel production line, but this production line for the production of LCD panels for TVs and IT products, Samsung is expected to quit it in 2022.
