Samsung Electronics to mass produce 3nm chips in H1 2022
Oct.13,2021

Asian Tech Press (OCT 13) -- Samsung Electronics announced that it will start producing 3nm chips in the first half of 2022 ahead of TSMC.

On Oct. 7, Samsung Electronics announced that it will begin producing 3 nm chip designs for customers using GAA technology in the first half of next year. It added that it will mass-produce second-generation 3nm chips in 2023 and 2nm chips in 2025.

Samsung Electronics will use GAA technology for 3nm chip production to improve the performance and efficiency of transistors that act as semiconductor current control switches. The new transistor structure is critical for continued process migration because it improves power efficiency, performance and design flexibility.
