Asian Tech Press (OCT 28) -- According to Korea Central Daily, the personal information of 300,000 users of Coupang, a large e-commerce platform in Korea, was leaked in a massive incident.
On the 27th, Kang Han-seung, president of Coupang Group, issued an apology statement, saying, "We apologize for the unpleasant experience we have given to those who trust and use Coupang. We will do our best to protect personal information and prevent the incident from happening again."
Coupang explained that information such as users' names and addresses were temporarily exposed during the app upgrade process on some users' apps. On the 27th, the Personal Information Protection Committee under the Prime Minister of Korea said that it will investigate whether Coupang Group allegedly violated the Personal Information Protection Act.
