Nuro, BYD unveil 3rd-generation autonomous delivery vehicle

Asian Tech Press (Jan 13) -- The third-generation all-electric autonomous delivery vehicle, produced in collaboration with science and technology company Nuro and BYD North America, has been officially launched.

It is understood that the project was officially launched in August 2019 and is planned to be put into mass production in early 2023, which will provide delivery services for local consumers.

Nuro has launched two generations of self-driving delivery vehicles for delivery services in restaurants, grocery stores and other scenarios. in February 2019, Nuro received $940 million in investment from Japan's SoftBank Group. In November 2021, Nuro announced the completion of $600 million in Series D funding.

In this partnership, BYD is responsible for vehicle development, vehicle testing and manufacturing, as well as providing core tier-one assembly components such as blade batteries, motors, electronic controls and human-machine interaction. The complete vehicle production is completed by BYD's China plant, and the assembly of the vehicle's power battery and autonomous driving components are completed by BYD's Lancaster, USA plant.
